Welcome to the Atlanta Music Teachers Association!
Our group of professional music instructors includes independent studio teachers, university faculty, public and private school teachers, and college student members. In addition to the camaraderie that comes with being a member of an active professional association, the AMTA provides its members with opportunities for enrichment and continuing education by offering workshops, scholarly presentations, master classes, and performances by members and guest artists. Students of AMTA members benefit by participation in AMTA-sponsored festivals and competitions.
AMTA members also belong to both the Music Teachers National Association, a network of over 22,000 music teachers throughout the United States, and the Georgia Music Teachers Association. The GMTA holds an annual conference and sponsors statewide student competitions. The MTNA also holds an annual conference attended by thousands of teachers, and provides benefits including insurance and legal consultation, technology resources, and enrichment grants.
Association members receive the award-winning journal American Music Teacher, a bi-monthly publication which features insightful articles and reviews by leading music teachers, performers and advocates. MTNA also produces a scholarly e-journal featuring research-based articles. These journals motivate and keep teachers up to date on the latest information and innovation in music teaching and education.
